Below are the different data types which DPM protects
1. Exchange Server(2003&2007):- DPM Server protect the Storage Group.But during recoverable process we can recover (Storage Group,Mailbox and Database for storage group).
2. SQL(2005&2008):- DPM Server protect only database and recover only database.
3. Sharepoint Server :- Farm is protect by DPM but during recoverable process we can recover (Farm,Site,Database and File or list).
4. Window Server 2003 :- Volume,Folder,Share is protected by DPM Server and during recover process we can recover Volume,Folder,Share and File.it can also protect system state backup also.
5. Workstation(window XP SP-2 and Window vista):- It protect File data and recover file data only.
Note:- workstations has to be part of domain.
DPM 2007 supports shared disk clusters for file servers, Exchange Server 2003, SQL Server 2000, and SQL Server 2005. DPM 2007 supports both non-shared disk clusters and shared disk clusters for Exchange Server 2007
DPM 2007 is a server-based application that enables disk-based and tape-based data protection and recovery for computers in and across Active Directory domains
